My turn at NGC 3132

Just 2.5hrs through the FSQ-85EDX and the OSC STF-8300C in gawd-awful light pollution. Even PI struggled this time equalising the gradient out and I ended up doing it manually in PS (perhaps a little too much).

This was as sharp a focus as last nights seeing would allow, possibly mixed with a LITTLE icing (see my Equipment forum post).

Anyway, good enough for me, onto something else. Not much point chasing this little mongrel with the 85mm

300% enlargement of the PN itself: https://www.astrobin.com/full/338112...otd&real=&mod=

Bit more colour: https://www.astrobin.com/full/338112/F/

Can't get PS to match the Adobe RGB for web exactly - looks brighter/more colourful in PS than any of the Save for Web settings. Ah well. YOu get the muted point

Thanks Kevin - glad SOMEONE noticed Yeah, can be a struggle at times getting much in an 85...great for big voluminous gas fields, NOT so great for PN's and smaller GX's (might buy back my focal extender lol)

Actually, it's this image alone that has made me think about maybe getting an 8" astrograph. Vixen R200SS, Tak Epsilon, maybe a tuned to hell GSO or SW...

I thought about getting something for PN's too. Not sure what. They really need the Keck 10metre.

That little PN has turned up nicely in the wide field. Doesn't look too lonely in amongst the star field.

When the first image rolled on down the pipeline, I honestly thought I had missed the target and had a fat star instead... a quick check in CCDStack revealed the truth

Fun finding all the little galaxies in the field too - I found 5. Plus a small open cluster with dark neb. (no, not that failed mote removal top right - grrrrrrr - the flat SHOWS the mote clearly but it won't fully remove it, but did remove the other 6 motes lol)
