I'm just getting started in AP and am taking baby steps. At the moment I'm purely taking OSC of broadband targets (galaxies, globular clusters etc) and am looking for an effective light pollution filter.
My other question is how does this filter fit into my imaging train given I wish to get a filter wheel for LRGB photography at a later date.
Rene, there are a number of them on the market each claiming to be perfect for the task. I studied them before deciding upon the Hutech IDAS v3. I can say that although it solved my light pollution issues from my suburban backyard it did take some getting used to. Particularly with star colour. The nebulosity was definitely improved though. It’s a balance of combining various subs to get the right mix in the final image. Also post processing can take care of strange colour casts that some filters generate. I guess it comes to personal choice as most do a good job.
