Not bad for a single 5 minute jpeg. I processed an hour of RAWs and it didn't look superficially as good as this so back to square one on that task.

Looks good just as it is with a lot of great colour. . I find that a lot of DSLR wide field images look good in their native raw state developed in camera raw in LR which keeps the file in raw.. A friend of mine who professionally prints wall size photographs for art exhibitions thinks it is because the RGB colour space passed between the camera and program is intact and the background is not a mangled mess of colour noise. We are taking advantage of the skills of the camera builder and the software maker to represent what we see..

Does not work for specialised astronomy subjects and systems I suppose ,where programs like PI is and lot of experience is required.

Nice single sub Tony. How are you finding the colour response after setting your custom white balance ? It looks good

I've been trying different white balance options Ryan and the custom white balance with grey card is only useful for normal daytime photography it seems. The image above was taken using the 'sunshine' WB setting.

Some experienced people say to do CWB with grey card, some say to use the sunshine/daylight setting.

In any event the modded dslr is a lot better and I'm using it with a Ha filter tonight (until the cloud bank arrives).
