Replacing eyepieces on a Celestron Ultima 100

Hi all - has anyone had any experience with changing our the standard eyepiece on the Celetron Ultima 100 spotting scope? I’ve found one thread on cloudy nights that seems to imply it could be possible with a Baader adaptor, but no confirmation and it’s pretty pricey for a speculative option. Anyway, appreciate any views anyone might have.

Nathan , anything is possible mate but can you post a few photos of the eyepiece area of the scope to give us an idea of what we need .

The focus mechanism and a total length of focus travel would also help .

Thanks .

Brian.

Thanks for the help Brian! Photos of the eyepiece entry, focusing mechanism and the standard 22-66x zoom eyepiece are attached. Focal length is 540mm. I was thinking he locking collar on the standard eyepiece might be removable and I could use that to secure other 1.25 inch eyepieces. But it’s an integrated unit.

try and get a hold of the regal 100 eyepiece, but overall will be a difficult task, not std design which takes a 1.25” (unlike the regal) is yours the ed or non-ed

Thanks for the tips, Daniel and Jeremy.

Daniel - in answer to your question, the Ultima isn't ED. I was toying with getting a Regal but couldn't justify the cost at this time, so I settled for a second hand Ultima, albeit in superb condition. Not ideal, but its filling my portability needs very nicely.

The Baader Hyperion click stop looks like a nice upgrade (with some around at surprisingly good prices) but I wonder whether it would be a bit like lipstick on a pig given my scope is just the Ultima 100 (no ED). Has anyone had any experience with upgrading the eyepieces of the Ultima and have views on whether it’s worth the investment?

you can always keep eyepiece if you upgrade xco-e later on, i know in the regal the ep is the weak link, provides very good images once you swap it out
