Noob at all the imaging but I guess I try with what I know. I took this image of jupiter but im puzzled with what that white circle is in the southern belt. I havent seen it before, is it my gear thats messing things up or a feature thats always been there? I tried to make a comparison to some other picture take on this forum and others but I cant seem to see it in those images.
had me puzzled too, but it seems there is a large bright disturbance in the belt - there was also a bright region in about this location on the 21st, but it has grown a lot since then. Attached image from last night is RRGB, so colour is odd, but it shows the region (east-west reversed from your image). Will be interesting to see what happens to this. Regards Ray
Thanks Ray I don't feel so insecure about my methods and visual knowledge of what Jupiter is ment to look like. Im interested to know if it can be picked up visual as well?
Guess it should be readily visible - it is pretty big and bright. As mentioned in earlier post, attached for interest is an image from Dec21 showing the same region - clearly something there, but it has become more pronounced since then. Regards Ray
