Sydney Fires

To anyone on here in the zone of the latest fires down in Sydney, please be safe. Those fires, combined with the intense westerly winds, have been jumping containment lines at will.

Think of yourselves' and your family's safety above all of your 'things.' The things can easily be replaced. The people behind them cannot.

I have friends down in the firing line, and they were saying last night, that it is intense, even from a fair way away. A lot of smoke causing breathing difficulties.

I know everyone on IIS wishes you all the best, and that the incredible men and women on the front lines can catch and contain this monster.

What amazes me is that Sydney is burning and I drove into a blizzard at 400m in Tassie today. We are apparently in for a nut-buster this Winter...

Shane, I live in NW Sydney and the edge of the official red fire zone goes through half of my house! A couple of nights ago I went out to do some imaging in a rare clear night but degraded by smoke from early "burn offs". Of course I grumbled but then I thought "what do I really want, clear nights or......?".
