DSS Upgrade has been released

For those folks that use the venerable DSS application, it has now been upgraded and released. Open source. There is a fast 64bit version now. You can find the details here in this Cloudy Nights thread, including the download links;

Had a look at it; installation is beyond my capabilities. I'll have to see if my whiz kid grandson can help me.

Installed the 64 bit and tried it on stack of about 80 subs with calibration and 2x drizzling and 32bit output to see how it went. Seemed to perform better and no memory issues. Output file was 256Mb (which crashed StarTools).
Hoping they make it into a cross platform tool like PHD2 although I'm well aware of the challenges that brings.

Its quicker allright....

Still cant get it to recognise 16bit TIF images from my zwo224 though...
DSS thinks they are greyscale, and the output is in B&W.

I installed it on Windows 10 64 bits running under Virtual Box on macOS.
Despite the VM having allocated only 2gb of memory, it worked like a charm !
30 cr2 frames stacked faster than with the 32 bits version.
So Mac users with Virtual Box can use it !
