Congratulations on your admission to the ranks of the Engineering elite!

Now that you have been taught the secret handshake, and been introduced to the arcane symbology of the sacrificial goat, you will be recognised by your peers wherever you travel. (Or is that the Freemasons? I always get my secret societies confused!)

Sadly, your expertise and skills will generally not be appreciated by other lesser mortals (clients, managers, etc), but the global fraternity of Engineers will provide moral support whenever and wherever required.

Was honours based on the results of your undergrad subjects or did you do a separate honours year with a research project? If so, what (in plain English) did you research?
I did a year of the STEPs program which is like doing year 11 and 12 really fast cause I was a slacker at school. I then did 3 years of the degree plus the 4th honours year which had a capstone course and my research course. I did a project based on Level Crossings on the cane train network here and using PLCs to add obstruction detection onto it as a retro-fittable systems...if that makes sense.

Cheers,

I definately hope to get down there for 2019 depending on money and available time off.
I have just started with a consultancy firm called Logicamms and I am getting exposure to both Electrical and Instrumentation as well as Control Systems. I hope to be able to go more into Control Systems though. I really like the logic of it...

Ah huh, just as I suspected. How would I know what a PLC is? One effect of a higher education is that you can no longer speak without falling into jargon! I started doing that in second year. "What do you mean you don't know what an upward fining sequence is?"

Another one - my niece topped Engineering at U Tas and received the University Medal... no credit to me though.

Runs in the family... my maternal grandfather was an engineer educated at Edinburgh, emigrated here to help design the harbour bridge... I'm an engineer too, in Sydney Trains....

I'm the first University Graduate in my immediate family. Son of a refugee father and my mum's grandparents left Russia in the 1920s to make a better life here. So my family is very proud of me.
