After jonesing for a session following such a long period of poor weather, I made it out on a lovely, bright, and CLEAR afternoon drive to Putty Road. I explored a bit further than I normally do, coming to the conclusion that there are better sites, closer, so I headed back to one of them. Set up as the twilight drained from the sky, these shots were taken around 9pm AEDT to on 3 December, 2018.
Sadly, I didn't factor in the Milky Way not being risen in the sky, and I wasn't going to wait for a few hours to let it rise. As such, I was left with limited contrast, and stacks of "just stars" don't make for impressive photos.
The points of interest that I did end up shooting were the two sizeable light smudges that are easily apparent to the naked eye, off to the South. Unfortunately I didn't want to continue to be eaten by mosquitoes so I didn't get a screencap of the Night Sky app which would have confirmed their identity!
Any suggestions as to which these are? I believe they are either Sagittarius star cloud and Sagittarius cluster, or Andromeda galaxy and Telescopium...
