Best tracking for Celestron CPC?

Hi all, I am just curious about how I should go about aligning my Cpc the best I can? I don't have a wedge or a guide scope, but I'm just curious as I would like to get longer exposures than 30 secs.

Thanks, Jake.

2 or 3 star alignments are you best option for your set up but for anything that you want to get a long exposure without feild rotation you will need to get a wedge and auto guider.....I have a CPC aswell and it is a worthwhile investment (The wedge) if you want to image. I just got mine...now saving for the auto guider.......where in melbourne are you?? What size CPC have you got? I dont know of many people close by that have the CPC set up.......

I suspected that I may need the wedge, bit of saving to do I think haha. I'm near East Malvern, and I have an 8 inch CPC. I have been down in flinders the last week, great clear skies there, I put a photo up in the deep space section.

Thanks for the response

I had a look at the pics you mentioned.....They are amazing for first attempts!! you are already taking great images so you definately have a flare for astro!! Never been down to flinders......As i'm out west I normally head towards Ballarat to find a dark site...

Making your own wedge isn't all that difficult if you always image from the same locale, you can make a timber one for a few bucks to try it out.

If you want an adjustable one, try stealing a mount of an unused satellite dish and adapt that.
