David Malin Awards - Junior Category

I am wondering why there hasn't been any submissions for the Junior category of the David Malin Awards...it appears that over the past few years this category has gone unclaimed. In particular what are clubs doing to encourage their junior members in this area. For the younger members of IIS have you thought of submitting an entry to these awards?

Unfortunately Hans Astrophotography seems to be a "rich man's sport" in that for deep sky and planetary stuff the minimum entry level gear is way out the reach of pocket money. Exclusions being children who have parents with gear and hand held shots perhaps?

You're absolutely correct about the clubs though. I would think that this would be fertile soil for budding imagers.

Interesting thread gone unnoticed again!!

Cheers
Doug
