Where to buy milky/opaque acrylic sheets?

I just bought some EL panels and want to make up a frame for them with some opaque or milky white plastic in front to diffuse the light.

Anyone know where in Melbourne I can buy such an item?

Answered my own question by luck. Drove past Mitchel Plastics in south Melbourne.

They cut me 2 sheets of 500x500 mm 4050 opaque perpspex espicially used as a diffuser. Guy in the place new a bit about light boxes and diffusing and reccomednded the right plastic. Which is the 4050 37% light transmission version

Cost me $20 for 2 pieces and $10 to cut it

I use Menzel plastics here in Adelaide for all the perspex for my light boxes, it is damn expensive stuff.

Plastics for Industry -Dandenong. Very economical. Red 3mm sheets for laptops, mine is 17" and the sheet cost $12.

Old Computer LCD screens when the cold cathode light strip fails. Rip the 19" to bits for a plethora of optical screen variations.

The EL panel itself shouldn't have any pattern on it. I'm always worried that using a translucent diffuser might add some grain to the flat and end up in the picture. If you want a diffuser because the light is too bright just feed less voltage and you'll be able to dim the output. But I'd refrain from adding anymore layers in the light path. I framed my A4 sheet in a photo frame from Office works with a glass front that I keep clean.
