NGC1760 Super Bubble in the LMC

Just to show I am not only doing super widefields!

Here is an unusual neb bubble in the LMC. This is at nearly 3 metres focal length.

Thanks Mike. I think it looks like a bug on a windscreen!

Hi Greg, I was looking on my mobile phone before but when viewed on a computer monitor I can see there are small halo rings around the stars, I think when these appeared in your work last time it was from the masking and you were able to get rid of them

Interesting. I'll go back and recheck the subs and fix it. Perhaps the seeing deteriorated or it was low in the sky and the blue didn't do well. I remember there was some cloudy weather when I did this one.

Fixed the star halos.

Looking over the times of the data the blue data was taken later mostly after midnight and last after red and green. As I recall that night was cloudy until later in the evening when it cleared up. So I started the imaging run late like 11pm or so.

The blue and green subs are worse seeing than the red (red if often the sharpest after luminance anyway).

Fixed it as best I can and it came out pretty well.

same links.

Looking good Greg! It’s quite an interesting object, looking at it it would appear as if there has only been one generation of stars that has occurred but further reading suggests that there may be 2-3 generations of stars within this region.

One observation of mine is that the Ha has overpowered the colour rendition within some of the other star forming regions.
Very nice overall however

Thanks Colin.

I have reduced the Ha to be more subtle.
There are some nice subtle colours in the lighter areas of the Nebula . Hbeta. The background stars are more prominent as well.

Yes I was thinking the same when I did the last version. I was happy with the colours but yes it needs a bit more pop.

I'll see what I can do with it. Its close.

I think I have it now. This is about as far as I can take this image (at least for tonight hehe).

Gee astrophotography is easy.

I was very happy to get the data as I had the Ha from the night before but then it was cloudy the next night. I stuck my head outside at 10:30pm or so and was surprised to see a completely clear sky. I set up and had imaging rolling within 10-15 minutes.

But the object was past ideal and for some reason I find objects near the SCP tend to be a little blurry. I guess we are looking though more atmosphere in that direction.

A bit more pop in the image now as far as I am willing to take it and I am happy with the colour which in a way hardly needed anything as it was nice right in the masters.

It looks like this giant bug is coming to get us!

Nice one Greg. I didn't see the earlier versions but I like the colour and detail on this one. There is certainly a lot of great stuff to image in the LMC.

Cheers

Thanks Steve. You know how it is. I tend to go through evolutions on some images. That is fine as they usually end up better than where they started.
