Has anyone seen Raymo (Ray) lately?

According to the stats last activity was October 31. He was usually active on the forum. He is an old chap, hope he is okay.

I hope he is OK too. You are right, he used to be pretty active. He posted almost every day.

I posted but Cometcatcher had already covered my info (post date) so I deleted, unnecessary post, that's all. I should read things a little slower sometimes.

Hello everybody, I'm back from the wild blue yonder. I'm flattered that my absence was noticed. Will be a little while before I have any images
to post, as the warmer weather would make my images unacceptably
noisy, so I must get the tests of my home made cooler under way asap.

So rumors of your demise are slightly exaggerated ?

Great to have you back Raymo

I am interested in what your doing for cooling, last weekend I made a TEC cooling system for my 350D and was excited with the 20C drop I was getting until on final assembly I discovered my camera had mysteriously died

The cooler worked great running on 6V with a little fan so I reckon I might see if I can get hold of another 350D body. I'm itching to get back imaging

Cheers
Jo

Thanks for your interest Graham and Jo. I'm back to help some and annoy others. I've made a Heath Robinson device out of a transparent
plastic lunchbox, a flexible freezer pack, and a small thermometer fixed
inside the lid of the box. I have no idea how effective it will be.
You should be able to get a 350D body for a bit over $100 Jo.

For all those Gen Xer's and younger, Heath Robinson was the fore-runner to MacGyver.
Good to have you back Raymo.

Heath Robinson would probably be old enough to be MacGyver's
grandfather. What's a TEC cooling system Jo?

Great to see ya back ray

Look forward to hearing more about your prototype, and when you get them into production the noise on my 1100D hasn't been great in the heat

Thanks Dunk, from what I've read you'd find the noise worse with many other models.

Good to see you on again Ray. You had me worried for a while!

My Pentax K-5, while noisier in summer has been still turning out pleasant images, as long as sub length is kept short. In your absence I purchased a fast 8" F4 Newt as I said I would, so sub lengths have to be short anyway to stop sky fog. The 8" F4 and K-5 is a good combo.

Thanks Kevin, although your ED turns out great images, I expect you'll
enjoy the shorter exposures the 8" offers.
