LOA-21 3D Eyepieces for Binoviewing

Hi. I just finished reviewing a new eyepiece technology developed by Russ Lederman of Denkmeier Optical in the U.S.A. Basically it produces multiple levels of real 3D in the field of view. A complete game changer IMO for viewing DSO (what it was designed for). My favorite, open clusters are simply incredible.

Here's a site that has the review - http://doctordreviews.com/3d-eyepieces.html

Here's the new product page - https://denkmeier.com/index.cfm?fuse...TOKEN=37183053

Very interesting!

In your experience, once a particular 3D appearance is dialled in, does it appear the same to all viewers or does the effect vary from individual to individual?

It appears the same for multiple users. If you have ever used a stereoscope or that ViewMaster toy to view pictures in 3D, it is like that. So at any particular setting of the eyepiece the 3D is vivid and appears the same to others.

Oh, I do remember the ViewMaster, it blew me away back in 1972

I'm not usually a binoviewer man, because the reward doesn't seem worth the effort and expense to me. That's also why I missed all the LOA 3D talk on CN – I wasn't following the binoviewer forum.

From what I read so far this 3D technology could indeed be a game changer for deep space observers. Maybe I'll try it some time, but the way the Aussie dollar is going at the moment that could take a while...
