8" f6 Newt

I have an 8" f6 imaging Newt for sale.

It is as per here:

and here:

It was custom built by Cris Ellis at Astronomy Alive about 10 years ago.
It has a Pyrex 8" mirror and large secondary for imaging.
The focuser is a JMI Crayford type costing many 100s of dollars.

It has high quality Parallax tube rings with ADM saddle plates also costing many 100s of dollars.
Inside all the scope it has Carl Zeiss flocking paper.

There are 2 different spotting scopes that can go with it as seen in the pics.
I now use a 10" f4 scope for imaging but I haven't had time for 3 years.
Therefore the 8" f6 is for sale.
If any interest is shown I would be prepared to take detailed photos
of the scope as requested.
My advice would be that this scope would be better set up as a planet killer by
installing a smaller secondary mirror for more contrast.
The secondary mirror is flaking slightly so could do with a re-coat.
The primary mirror looks good and is very high quality.

If any interest is shown I would be prepared to take detailed photos
of the scope as requested.
How much is it worth? - I really don't know.
It cost me many 1000s of dollars but this is not
a world where you get your money back on such items.
Therefore - please make an offer and advise me of how much it's worth.
I'm short of space where I now live.

If I don't sell it in a month or so I will probably pull out the mirror
and focuser etc and sell all items as separate parts.
In which case the tube would be discarded.

cheers
Allan

I'd like to add that this scope actually won the Cloudy Nights forum
monthly competition - see here:
https://www.cloudynights.com/topic/4.../#entry5856505

The original full size pic is still here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/247194...74866/sizes/o/

The mirror is of a much higher quality than in typical run of the mill telescopes.
I was at a star party one night where we all pointed to Jupiter
and my scope won easily against the others including a Bintel 12" Newt.

Admittedly I was using good Williams Optics eyepieces and
even a Takahashi eyepiece.
That was in spite of the fact that the secondary mirror is large for imaging -I think it's 2.25 inches - from memory -
whereas a smaller secondary mirror would give even better contrast.

Also - the deal includes Antares rotating tube rings as per the picture here:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/247194...in/photostream

and here:
http://scopestuff.com/ss_arrs.htm

All up I spent close to $3,000 on everything.
As no one has advised me of a price I will ask $800 for now.
I think if someone was going to spend that sort of money on a new telescope
they would be advised that they'd get far better performance with the telescope I'm selling.

cheers
Allan
