Powder coating in Melbourne?

Hi folks,
Stripping down my Takahashi NJP mount & 10" newt tuberings etc to powder coat them all black to match my new black & white ioptron tripier.
Any recommendations as to where I can take it to have the coating done well?
preferably south eastern suburbs.
Cheers
Andy

Hi Andy,

It's been a few years since I had anything powder coated, but I used to take my things to this place in Moorabbin: http://aclasspowdercoating.com/page1/page1.html

Charlotte at the front office had an interest in astronomy back then so you may want to mention that your thing are for a telescope.

Cheers,
Stefan

Dulux Duracoat Satin Black rattle can - go at it after disassembling and masking off things. Cost FAR less, looks pretty much the same, and requires no heating of anything.

Thanks Lewis - I'll have a look once it's dissassembled - Diego's helping me pull the 'scope apart this weekend and I'm taking the mount to Clive for open heart surgery next week.

Here's a (very) rough mockup of what it could all look like when done

I reckon it'd look better white than black honestly.

I know, I know, but no point fighting it.

It's Andy's...it's wrong, it's sacrilege, but...it's still Andy's. At least painting it in solvent-soluble paint lets someone in the future remove the blasphemy easily compared to powder coating.

Aaah Lewis - it's a 4th hand mount but has already gained it's pedigree from several serious astrophotographers prior to it's earning two Malin gongs this year. Check out the guiding graph attached - less than 1 arc second and great value for money at $3k - It's likely that I'll keep it for a very long time

That said, with the black & white scope and Celestron tripod it's an incredibly efficient but retina searingly ugly beast - I call it B.U.F.F. (Big Ugly Fast F...) kinda like a Nascar vs. F1 - all grunt..

Once this ugly duckling has been pimped, I'll take true pride of ownership in it! Won't affect it's performance, and it'll look cool

I think in white it would resemble an overgrown EQ6

PS: What was Mr. Taka thinking when he chose pusilanimous baby bathtub green as a branding statement for his products?

Lol

You could strip it down and anodise it like those chintzy yank mounts

All good fun - have at it Andy. I wanted to paint an AZ-EQ6 Tak green once
