Tak fan boys

Hi all , I love a jab at the Tak fan boys and here is one .

I have over the years owned and understood why Takahashi are so good ,,, it's because they are .

Anyway , this story is that some fanboy painted a GSO Voyager mount and it being a typical Chinese made great piece of engineering ended up with bad slop in both alt and Az .

Fast forward to a week ago when this sweety arrived , 20 minutes of adjusting and it's like new and owning one of these sweet mounts years ago I learned how to adjust these good mounts properly , here are a few photo of Friday night with the LP 110 f6 APO and tonight's 102mm f10 Achromat ,,, Both on the moon , Jupiter and Saturn and this 102mm achro scope really performs ,, and sits fine on this psudo Tak mount with ease .

Hopefully tomorrow the ED100 will be on mount .This glass is Tak quality . Like my iStar .
Photo's tomorrow , and the weather is co-operating .

Brian.

Nice mount Brian, but it ain't gonna cut it if you snag this iStar that's for sale just up the road from me:

That auction is only for the iStar objective, you still need to build the scope. My iStar 127mm f12 R30 TCR would be a better match.

Auction is for lens only but the entire OTA is being offered in the blurb. And yes, anything that's smaller will be better suited to Brian's "Tak" mount

Might just as well , its a good price for a huge lens , I just need a lotto win to build an observatory at a dark site to use it , oh yes an AP1600 would be a must as well .

But I am enjoying the little alt/az as its one trip out the shed door and plonk down as a unit and away , it has a little jiggle when focusing but that dies down in a few seconds and once there the slo/mo controls take over and these work well with zero backlash or vibrations , all in all a perfect little grab and go mount for all my small to mid sized refractors .

Its ok up to about 150x and if I need to go higher I will use the Vixen SP which is driven .
