Meteorite over Whangarei, Northland, NZ

Hi folks,

Just saw a bright orange glowing meteorite being visible as a standing streak for several seconds, then breaking apart into approx. 5-8 pieces and each burning up individually near Whangarei, Northland, NZ 35 Deg South, 174 Deg East.
Time of observtion: approx. 22:10 NZ Daylight Saving Time
Visible location: northwest from vantage point
Trajectory: south west to north east

It all happened when I left our hotel room to make a phone call and look into the night sky.

Have you seen the same from somewhere else? Can we nail down its trajectory, size and wether it’s a known object (maybe a satellite?).

Look forward to reading from others.

Cheers

Max, have you reported this to the AMS (American Meteor Society) their database does not have any other reports of this one.
Sounds like a fantastic sighting....
