Ceres and Vesta converge over 9 nights

The completion of the last 9 nights of imaging Ceres and Vesta. It is interesting to watch as they approach their closest point on the 5/07.

Yes, a fantastic result. Congratulations.

It filled in the gaps for me. I had been following the convergence visually with good sightings on 21, 22, 29 June and 1, 3, 4 July but alas I have been clouded out since.
Steve.

Aidan, Terrific result, lucky you got 9 nights in a row of clear skies.
Not sure where you live or what equipment you used? Thanks and well done. Cheers, John W.

Thanks for the nice comments

I am in Sydney, very lucky to get images each night. the first few were cloudy but i stayed out until about 2am to wait for a clearing.

equipment used was

10" Newtonian
NEQ6 mount
Canon 600D
QHY5 autoguider (although it wasn't necessary)

images varied depending on conditions, mostly 3 min exposures at ISO 400

Well done. The Moon would have made exposures different on each night also.

Great work Aidan! I stopped after 6 days because I went camping and was conserving camera batteries for the Milky Way etc.

Have you thought about putting together an animation?

Hi Stephen, i have thought about it. after the full moon passes, i might take a series of shots to get a uniform background and then make an animation.

Awesome work, thanks for posting this!
I was hoping to get a shot of them while in close conjunction, but the weather has been absolutely abysmal here. Currently another big storm is raging outside...
