You may have just sold me on the lens Greg! Edge correction is pretty darn good for such a wide lens, MUCH better than the Samyang 14mm f/2.8 at F/2.8.
It has a reasonable amount of LA at F/5.6 as well. At least my copy does.

Thanks Colin. I think its an all round good lens. Some coma at F2.4 but not a lot and I think "acceptable". I only had one copy of the Samyang 14 2.8 and it was bad. There is also the Laowa 15mm F2 now about to ship. Plus there is the Sigma Art F1.8 which is tempting but more expensive, larger and heavier. But its F1.8 and from what I have seen of samples quite useable at F1.8 (still some coma but minor).

There are 2 versions of this lens both optically identical, the Firefly which is polycarbonate and the Blackstone which is mag alloy and more expensive and I think heavier.

Cheers Rick. Its quite a chore to find a decent ultra wide angle lens. This only cost AUD$587 new off ebay so its good value.

Greg.

Looks like an excellent lens Greg. Nice shot.

You obviously went for the polycarbonate version as its nice and light. The Laowa though is all metal - and I think comes in at 515g.

cheers
Martin

The irix is also available in all metal (Blackstone). Its about $760 versus $587 for the polycarbonate version.

Here's a review of the Laowa 15 f2:
