Cem60ec

Hi there,
My second mount was a ioptron CEM60EC. It's was an awesome mount. Well appointed, although I must say the only issue we stumbled across was the quality of the Dovetail saddle. The powder coating on that component was crap. We found it would only take a williom optics, losmandy, and no others. Even an edgehd with that average orange dovetail just didn't work.

We used jewellers files to sand back the powder coat on the saddle notches against a number of different manufacturers, until it was sorted.

Also important to note whilst the EC denotes the use of an absolute encoder, it has it on only one axis. It does nothing for you in DEC.

We had hoped to upgrade to the cem120, but it was pushed out 3 years as their prototypes were too expensive to produce. I spoke to Tong there. You can buy them now, but they are quite different to the initial design.

Anyway that led us to buying the 10Micron GM3000HPS which is amazing.

RE Cem60EC
It's a great mount and I loved mine. Was reliable, a little dearer, but not SB /AP dear, but had some unconventional thinking, and it was accurate as hell.

Grab one. You won't be disappointed.
