CaK Solar image

First try at Solar CaK line imaging. SWED80, Moonlite focuser, Lunt CaK module, ZWO ASI290MM camera. Not much to see but happy to get a result!!

it's alive alright. No more nights spent out in the cold doing boring deep space stuff.
There's still a CH going on, though. https://www.spaceweatherlive.com/en/.../coronal-holes Was it bad luck you imaged the wrong half of the sphere or will your setup simply not show this sort of sun feature?

It was more of a test to ensure the CaK module was OK and I could get an image, achieve focus etc. Will do more soon!!

Great picture Malcolm. I have a Lunt LS60THa /BF 600 on the way from Andrews ,as I'm just getting into narrowband solar Imaging. Who did you get your Cak module from?

Hi Malcolm,
It works and its very crisp.
Is this from Snake Valley a few weeks ago?
You were showing me your setup then and explaining about the calcium filter.
You did mention the purple, violet hue you get with the filter and about picking up high magnetic areas..
Cant wait to see the real power of this filter with sunspots etc.
Thanks for being so welcoming at the astrocamp.
I'll definitely be coming to the next one.

No Andy, this was a few weeks before that when I first got it all setup. Hoping to give it another try soon. Did get a few frames at SV but was not overly happy with the result.
