took this last night, one hour stacked in dss and a little in photo shop. a course in imaging editing would be a great advantage but by myself its all trial and error

Hi John,

great image !

Can we perhaps have some details as to equipment,
exposures and such you used to capture it ?

It certainly helps people like me to get a better understanding
of what it took to get there.

Well done.

Paul.

I should have added this originally, scope is a meade 14'' and ccd is a atik
383l one shot colour. all images at 60 sec exp and stacked in DSS. I have just
retired from work and now looking for a club to join in Sydneys north
west .

nice bit of detail...And just retired. Let the good times roll! :-)

Suggest you have a look a Startools. It's an inexpensive once-of purchase (think ~$65au) and does a great job of taking your raw file from DSS to something special. I still use PS to finish off, but Startools is a great processing tool designed for Astro. The program is reasonably intuitive for people without an engineering degree (unlike some) and there are youtube tutorials and help inside the program for guidance.

Great stuff John. Photoshop can get great results and there is quite a bit of information out there online to help edit astrophotos if you look for it.
