Use of PAE with HEQ5 Pro Mount

Hi
Although I have checked out all aspects of my HEQ5 Pro mount setup (eg level, balance, initial mount setup such as DEC and time, location etc on paddle and then polar alignment - all of which check out good) I still have trouble with star alignment, so maybe I am missing something. I have tried using the mount Pointing Accuracy Enhancement (PAE) but this did not appear to indicate initial guide star positioning is incorrect and was of no apparent improvement. Perhaps I am not using the correct procedure although this appears straightforward from the text.
Any comments or suggestions?
Peter

I had problems with my secondhand Heq5 pro until I did three things as well as drift alignment. Checked the puck and saddle were tight. Checked the scope and axis were true and in the same plane. (Cone error). Checked there was no play in the Ra axis worm. All of those things ( the last tightened up as per the Astro Baby web site ) helped.

Pointing accuracy however is no where near as good as a three star alignment with 10,000 step encoders such as Argo Navis..
