Around Perdition's Flames

Khan stated "I'll chase him round the moons of Nibia and round the Antares maelstrom and round perdition's flames before I give him up!" (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)

NGC 3572 is a star cluster situated near a molecular cloud in Carina about 6500 light year distance. These stars are young and massive and are only expected to live a few million years and explode as supernovae. These stars have shaped the clouds into amazingly convoluted shapes by their powerful radiation.(Eso)

...and it's a pretty cool target - near the great Carina Nebula but not often photographed by itself. (Thanks M&T for the inspiration to attempt this one)

Great inspiration from M&T but if I am honest, I'm not really digging the washy water colours like palette and it does look a little soft to me especially for an NB image perhaps focus, seeing? Did you use automated focusing?...but having said all those horrible mean and nasty things , it is certainly a pretty cool bit of nebula well worth the effort to capture. Would you consider a repo?

Gee Mike, glad you didn't say what you really thought of the image!
I'll look into the softness thing - maybe it's collimation?

Thanks Marc - yep sure does resemble a gas flame to me too!
I like the colours too - nothing to add about the apparent softness, other than maybe compare it with this one maybe I used too much NR or collimation is slightly out?

As mentioned above, different/unusual can be a good thing - treading the off-beaten path certainly can have it's pitfalls, and occasionally, some nice rewards as well
