Lots of computer crashes, dodgy star masks, weird artefacts, but have found my way to something that is, for me, reasonable. I've tried to keep it more on the muted side although perhaps a little too much? Details and big version here: https://www.astrobin.com/full/385879/0/

Added 44X300s S2 3nm subs to the previous HOO version. Taken down at Lake Moogerah alongside some lovely folks with stunning telescopes last Saturday night. Poor folks had to put up with my child and her friends pelting around in the dark (away from other telescopes at least....)

Thanks Mike and Trish. It’s been such fun learning the ins and outs of it all over the last year or so (aspiring to your incredible images of course!) and having a tiny bit of time to spend on the hobby lately has been a rare treat.

Thanks Marc. Went through a lot of variations with colour but basically used S shaped curve adjustments and preferred not to banish green altogether. Hopefully (if the clouds drift away long enough) I can explore adding some RGB stars :-)

Very nice! The colour balance is good and I like that there's still some green in the image.

It seems a shame to lose green and acknowledge those areas that really don’t have much S2 or O3, despite the over exaggeration a ‘linear fit’ brings to the table. It doesn’t really respect the light (I do like this concept) but it does (to some degree) respect the presence of certain wavelengths of light (I think?): not so much their abundance.
