Jeremy, remember that we're in the beginners section. John has quite a nice pic for what I assume is a single snapshot.

Jeremy, Tony is spot on. The image is not nice and sharp, but for a beginner it is not always easy to get a sharp single frame, due to the instability of the atmosphere, which is why many quality lunar images are the result of stacking hundreds of video frames.
It has also been taken at a short focal length in order to show the whole moon. There are different ways of imaging, and I have attached a couple of images taken at different focal lengths using eyepiece projection with an 8" scope years ago. Both were single frames.
I apologise to John for the hijack of his thread, but this is after all where beginners learn.

Good one. I had to abandon last night for the thin clouds. I’ll just have to live vicariously through this.

Hi John, nice image, thanks for sharing it. How did you take it?

Hi Raymo, very nice!

Hi Jeremy, “how can I say this without sounding bad”, by helpfully saying what you think is wrong with the image and how John might improve on it.

Cheers

Hemi
