No Logan it has not. I was quoted between 4-6 weeks for despatch. This Friday will be 7 weeks. It seems that punctuality is also in short supply with this company too. Frankly, I don't understand why astronomy businesses never seem to keep to a stated deadline. I have asked today for a distinct time frame for dispatch. I am not holding my breath.

Thanks for the update. If it was an AP, the wait/delay would be worth it. I don’t know much about OO, although I know you’ll keep them honest!

I had to press them yesterday for a despatch time and they got back to me late last night.

Apparently with the delay of the carbon tube delivery which they now have; the secondary spider and primary assemblies should be fitted with CNC machining in the next few days to the tube.

Despatch should then occur next week. So despatch will be nearly two weeks late from what was stated. That is better than what I have experienced a lot in astronomy shopping in the past. As one example, my Tak EM400 was nearly 3 months late from stated despatch.

I would imagine it will take several weeks to make its way here from despatch including customs, but that might also be a hold up too.

I'll update as things develop.

Good luck with the new scope Paul. I will be interested in your report once you have it up and running.

I have followed Orion Optics UK for some time now as I was interested in their astrographs vs ASA. I didnt know what to make of a few negative reviews and comments about their service as some of the forums tend attract negativity.

However I did find many happy campers in the UK, Europe, Chile and of course in Aussie.

Cheers Dave

Week eight has gone by and no despatch. I was told that coatings were going on the optics last week and Wynn was being assembled. Remembering that I was quoted 4-6 weeks for despatch. If you get quoted a time frame, don't believe it. It's going to be longer than you think.

From Ford to Ferrari, back to snail express... seems these guys are fulfilling their reputation, sadly.

From the UK to Australia can take as little as 3 days. DHL is quite fast from the UK. I sometimes import roofing goods and they sometimes arrive at my doorstep surprisingly fast like 3-4 days. Last time it was slow and it took a whole week.

Greg.

I received an email today that the scope is completed and undergoing final testing before shipment occurs. I do wonder how long that will take though. To be fair, bespoke equipment such as this does take time to make. Everything is machined to fit the carbon tube from what I understand. I hope that the finish is commiserate with the 9 week wait. I waited 3 months for an EM400 but that was a Tak mount. You know it is worth the wait.

I can empathise Paul.

I've been waiting since late January for an AP Mach1 mount. After an anodising issue a couple of months back, the new batch made it to testing recently - and that testing has failed apparently!!

Production halted while the cause pinned down

Paul

Bummer but on the other hand that level of maintaining a standard and not compromising is what makes AP great.

How many other manufacturers would simply have let it go through eh?

Greg.

Ah Paul, that would have pee'd me off. Though the standard is very high on an AP from what I have seen.

Good news. The scope has finally been shipped after nearly 10 weeks and is headed toward me. It passed through Liege Euro Hub yesterday evening our time, so it should be on a flight now heading for Australia.

Looks like someone in TNT had a brain fade. The package was at Changi Airport and now it is back in Euro Hub. Some idiot thinks Australia is Austria no doubt. I hope this thing does not get lost in transit.

Might be just a 'glitch' in the tracking info. Once I had a similar tracking information while in fact the item was with the customs in Sydney.

I have an item that is being held in Sydney Customs pending me submitting a B709A import form. USPS tells me this info. Australia Post says it is still in Tacoma, USA...
