Jupiter

Finally I have at least something to show for my frustrations trying to catch Jupiter but as you can see it is not good yet but it is the first time for me.

Hi Sandra

is that cloud cover or something else? also, what camera are you using ? you should be able to improve the shots by taking high frame rate video footage and stacking it in registax. Also reducing the sensitivity and ensuring that you have good focus should enable you to pick up a lot more detail.

It would have to be hugely magnified to be Io Brian. It certainly is
an odd image. No obvious sign of the cloud belts.

Sorry I missed it Brian, maybe you should have your tongue poking out
next time, instead of in your cheek, and then my poor old brain might not miss it.

Yes I did magnify it but with all the new stuff I am finding out probably did it all the wrong way. I assure it was Jupiter and maybe it was because it was behind the clouds may have had an impact on the outcome

Congratulations on your first photo of Jupiter!
It is a bit weird, but I like it exactly because it is unusual. It makes it interesting. It appears there are no bands because the image itself is probably overexposed, and then the clouds create weird patterns. Very interesting.

Yes Brian I was Jupiter and I could also see the moons but when I processed it or tried to because it was my first time using registax I didn't quite know what was going to show and then to make it larger I cropped it. I assure you I am not trying to pull anyone's legs but this is the way it came out. I will get that perfect picture yet.

Angry Jupiter

I just wish I could get my telescope and camera to focus together.
When I put the adapter onto the telescope and attach the camera I can't see anything but when looking directly through the telescope with the eye piece on there she is, all beautiful and perfect.
I have tried all the different settings on the camera. I know it is so close but not close enough.

When Saturn comes into view I want to get it. I got her last time with just my simple Sony cyber shot so why not with an expensive camera and good lens?

Realised what you have done.
The edge of jupiter on your is not the edge per se.
What you've captured is a portion of it with the portion cut off by the reticule of the lens.
If you are using a DSLR with the lens on, you need to get the DSLR very close to the eyepiece.
Change your setup so that you are prime focus and that will not be a problem.

Smile How about this guys?

With the help of a very kind man called KON who I only just met personally I was able to learn a great deal and together we took some really great shots.
Thank you Kon.
