A last go at M16

I got some LRGB data to add to my SHO Eagle. Astrobin link here: https://www.astrobin.com/full/421838/0/

Was an interesting process adding the star data in pixinsight. Learnt a bit about star size reduction, used different star masks for different sized stars. A bit limited by the data but also kind of surprised by what stacking a lot of 10s frames can yield. LRGB image very noisy of course (an hour all up of LRGB in very light polluted and moon filled skies) but sadly M16 is heading behind an ever leafier Mango tree! Until next year I guess...

That's a benchmark eagle Ben. Really nice.

Cheers Marc. A good ways of benchmarks I think, unless it’s a kind of lowish bench with the odd splinter and traces of pigeon poop :-D But do appreciate the comment all the same

I agree with Marc. The narrowband image is a real benchmark for a 200mm aperture.

Very kind comment Geoff. I've added in some of the missing blue star colour now so feeling happier about that. Don't know if it makes the image better but perhaps a bit more representative?

Okay, I’ll be happy and let this one sit. It’s not really ‘paralysis through analysis’ more like ‘frantic from pedantic’

Thanks Paul. Appreciate the comment :-)

Did one last adjustment and went back to more natural bigger RGB stars (no shrinking, which keeps them a bit more round)

Wow - outstanding image! Love those colours in the SHO version. Resolving an awesome amount of detail.

Many thanks Troy, Rob and Lee. It’s nice when some processing strategies seem to work out :-)
