Sculptor

Turns out this object isn't the easiest to process but here is my attempt.

669 subs at 22sec
ISO 3200
C5 f/10 SCT
Canon 5d

Just realised the artefacts that changing this to a size to upload brought out eww

Here's a very recent thread (March 2018) about how to best downsize and post pictures on IIS. Sadly it's been archived so the posted images have vanished. But from the remaining words 2 strategies seem to be the way to go.

Either a) export a JPG from your procecessing software size_of less than 2MegaByte. When you upload that into IIS, the forum software resizes it on its own to the limit of 200KB and that result is apparently more pleasing.

OR

b) download and install Irfanview to resize images before posting.

Thank you Annette, I’ve developed this complicated process of uploading things to a locked Facebook album on my pc the downloading them onto my laptop so I can post them . It just kind of happened that way even though I have infraview.

Ah. Interesting alternative. So this is the result of your detour via Facebook? Very good! I enjoy looking at imaging results so this is exactly what makes ME happy (if there's no astrobin version available) http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/a...e.php?a=234771

Yep, everything I’ve attached has been through Facebooks compression.

Ryan I reckon you’ve done an outstanding job with this. I think spiral galaxies are very hard to capture. The colour you have all the way through it is great. More data will get you that extra detail.

Remember the particular monitor your looking at it on can make a big difference to how it looks also.

Thanks Gavin, I really appreciate the feed back. I did notice a difference between my computer and my iPad. There are bits around the edges of the spiral that look like glow that has been clipped and it gave me no end of trouble when I was processing it. I don't think it's the worst of my work though
