Solar Activity 4th July 2020

They are certainly putting on the fireworks for the 4th of July!!!
There's a VERY large hedgerow prom visible in the SE. Definitely a "must see".
Cloud building down here so only managed to image the proms and FD in CaK.
Images to follow.

Now you be a good time to test out any Ha scopes you have......

Thanks for the heads up. I got my Coronado SM40 out and wow, it is a huge prom! Probably the biggest I’ve ever seen that I can remember. Also saw one on the surface at the 6 o’clock position about a third of the way in from the edge. It was U shaped. There was also a small but bright prom on the limb at 7 o’clock position.

Best view and magnification with the SM40 was with a Tele Vue 15mm Panoptic giving 27x at 1.5mm exit pupil. I normally used the Cemax 25, 18 & 12mm but today the view in the 15 Pan was ‘just right’.

Glad you managed to catch it - certainly one of the best proms for a while.

Was already aware of the prom and grabbed some video yesterday and today and will post some images soon. Certainly is a nice hedgerow and has changed a bit since yesterday.
