Reprocessed image of M42

A reprocessed image of M42 using Startools
HDR module with reveal DSO core
Contrast module
Wavelet Sharpening module
Magic module to shrink , expand and tighten stars etc...

A much improved image with more detail than the original posted last week
So much more to learn about Startools
Cheers

Great improvement, now just need to quieten down the core some more, and you will have done pretty much all you can do with the image.

It looks like you haven’t completely saturated the core like I have on mine. Not sure if you can blend images together in Startools (never used it) but one way of increasing the dynamic range is to blend an image that has been processed for the core into what you’ve done so far.

great improvement, I think the core is fine though, it will soon start to look duller and rubbed through, and maybe the stars too desaturated. all personal taste though really and great that you're learning new tricks. Also dont be afraid to use the various strengths of different programs to take a file between programs for certain steps. I'm using AstroPixelProcessor a lot more to avoid the focus i need with PixInsight. Its easy for APP to give a good enough shot for facebook, and I use it to judge it worthwhile or not to got through my longer workflow in PI.
