Wow, sudden comet. Nice one Justin! Unfortunately it heads off north, as they all do.

Awesome Justin, wow, what a great scene, must be near a dozen galaxies in there, well done
I seen, followed the path of C/2017 O1 on stellarium a couple weeks ago and knew it was going near by this field and thinking whether you'd be onto it
Too good fella

Thanks Chaps!

Lot's of controversy over this one because it's not named.

This is the group that discovered it.

Great shot Justin! I love your comet pics.
First I've heard of this new one, I'll need to do some catching up on it.

Cheers,

Justin, I think the IAU has lost a lot of credibility ince the Pluto naming debacle
They have even lost the SN reporting responsibility.
Lots of politics involved .
Cheers
PS I observed it visually on the 27 of last month.
It was low down and of indistinct shape, which I put down to the seeing.
I also thought it was about mag 11.0
Nice pic (y)

I observed it last about 10 days ago, remember my report.

Yes, usually some politics involved. Try not to think about it, takes the enjoyment of it. Glad you got to observe O1, it's certainly causing it's own controversy without the naming. Is it or is not in outburst, or periodic brightening due to rotation. Or just profuse outgassing from switching on.
The debate sure is lively!

Cheers,

Justin.
