ASASSN-18ix

Another possible nova....
RA 18h26m31.1s
Dec -46d53m03.3s

Rapidly rising from 12.9 to 12.5 and likely to be brighter.

Excellent Ken. Tonight looks very poorly for Sydney skies - cloud now and fog tomorrow morning - but we shall see what may come. May be able to see tomorrow evening ?

Regards,
Tony Barry

I imaged ASASSN-18ix tonight, 23 Apr 2018, and it appears quite blue under high saturation. My guess is not a nova. I made it out at about 12.9 (green channel, ~V), less than the discovery mag reported in the ATel. Unfortunately it's way too faint for me to get a spectrum. Image attached.

Cheers -
