Hi Rob,
i might be able to test out an ED80 + MPCC for you next week and let you know how it goes, i've heard of a few people using them with mixed results on another forum, i guess its all about getting the distances/spacing right.

Hi TJ,

Thanks! It'd certainly be interesting to see what the MPCC can do with an ED80.

I'll attach the two Carina images below, one at prime focus, the other with the P-Flat3. When the images are re-sized and compressed to 200k for uploading, it's hard to pick the star shape at the corners. In fact, the P-Flat3 image, with slightly wider field and better contrast, looks better to my untrained eye.
The images were shot on different nights a week apart, the camera orientation was the same on both nights. My processing in PS results in somewhat different colour and contrast between images.
Perhaps I'm really expecting too much from an ED80 at the edge of the field. In other respects all seems to be fine! In fact, looking at these reduced-size images, I'm quite pleased.

Imaged with an ED80 and a 400d dslr
Guided using a webcam, ST80 and Guide Dog
EQ6 mount controlled and pulse guided using EQMOD

Cheers,

Rob
