NGC 2736 Pencil Nebula NB

Scope/Date
12” GSO Dobsonian/ 25-Dec-06

Seeing/Transparency/Wind
Poor/Very Good/Strong

Moon phase
The Moon had set.

Constellation
Vela, part of Vela SNR

Description
I picked it up by sweeping with a 26mm EP and UHC filter.
It was a very faint streak 14’ long using a 26mm Meade Plossl EP (58X & 58’ field) and Lumicon UHC filter.
It was only just visible with averted vision using a 13mm Hyperion EP (115X & 40’ field) and no filter.
It was fainter than mag 12.5 NGC 3373 which I also saw this morning.

This image shows what I saw only it was a bit fainter for me.

Thanks for the report, I'll have to chase this one down.
How much harder was it to see in the 26mm without the UHC filter?

Haven't tried recently without the UHC in the 26mm EP. It might be a bit brighter than the Hyperion because there is less glass in the EP.
I have seen it with my 10" scope, 26mm & UHC.
