PMX RA Noise

Hi, I re-greased my Paramount MX about 2 months ago or so as it was WELL over due, and it made a noticeable difference in its performance. just over the past 2 weeks the RA has started to sound not so great when slewing.

As of yet it hasn't affected tracking, and I haven't dismantled the worm block yet. Curious weather anyone may have some insight on possible causes before I pull it apart?

Tension feels fine. I was thinking the smaller pulley on the motor perhaps? I might pull the motor out and run it and see what happens!

Most likely its the tension of the worm block pressing against the gear a bit too hard.

Is it a straining sound?

Greg.

If you watch the video carefully, it looks like there is something on the belt. Some little bits of swarf or something. And the noise it makes lines up with the little dark parts of the belt going over motor pinion.

Hi Greg, I don't think its a straining sound, more like a scratching or scraping sound. I'm pretty familiar with the worm blocks now as I have dismantled the DEC block a few times when I found a loose bearing. I have a day off tomorrow so I will inspect and report back then.

Cheers

Hi Peter, I can see that now, but I don't recall noticing anything there at the time. Its definitely a metallic sound.

Hopefully Ill have an answer tomorrow!

Erik
