First Clear Night of 2021

Amazingly the severe weather warning of this morning has given way to clear blue skies, low humidity all day to dry things out, and a slight Westerly breeze. No horrible lines of red on the weather radar. Moon does rise till after midnight. Dare I hope?

Observatory opened up, scope mounted, good to go. Fingers crossed. Good luck to others on the NSW central coast tonight.

Sorry Alex, there are still some showers on radar up your way, but hopefully they die out by dark.

Well a fine night up here, it has stayed clear. Visual only. Lightening flashes way off down south towards Sydney tell me they were probably getting hit again. Closed the roof at 12:30am just as the Moon was rising.

Yes there are hints of opportunity but I am too busy with three microscopes running ( yes a third a small digital one for larger things) and guitar sessions, the new electric now sorted is great and stays in tune day in day out...have you worn your new one out yet? I am thinking of getting a Harley Benton as they seem excellent value.

Cleared enough for me up near Katoomba to test a couple scopes I repaired/rebuilt. Humid, but first clear night in weeks. Also watched a wild lightning show towards Wollongong.

At least 6 clear nights forecast at my dark site from tonight. Hopefully it will make up for the endless cloudy nights only clear if at all on full moon nights.

Its been a bad run lately.

Greg.

Tonight is the start of a good run

Clear blue skies, 40% humidity, and not too hot; it looks like tonight is the start of a good run of nights during this New Moon week. I hope the rest of the east coast is getting the same conditions. Let the fun begin.

I’m heading up to the Central Coast for a week with my wife’s family ,so no Astronomy for me until I get back down to my dark site holiday home on the South Coast around the 20th
Enjoy the clear skies on the east coast at the moment
Suppose to be reasonably clear for the next week or so

Yep . Looks good out there tonight for the first time in a while. Forgotten where all the adapters are.

Another great night up here, capped off with my new EAA setup working great right out of the box. I hope everyone else on the east coast is out enjoying this night.
