The Spiral

A clear night last week let me sample the Spiral Planetary Nebula NGC5189 with the brand new 98% enhanced coating on Zamar's mirror after faithful duty of the original for 23 years. Thanks to Wayne Sainty in Foster.I kept an unusually high number of subs (around 70% ) as the tracking seemed pretty stable. So 492 Subs @ 5 sec ISO 2000 stacked in DSS and edited in Star tools and Gimp. Cheers W

That is a great result Wes, loved looking at the final image.

Very impressive results for 5 sec subs.

Cheers

Thanks Dennis ,
I could have pumped it up a little to maybe 6 or eight seconds.
But once I set parameters its easier to just let it run. When I noticed the blue colour I questioned myself but a quick google shows the same in the Hubble image with out the mega detail of course !

I can confirm that the Hubble image and yours, are recording the colour faithfully. My image from years ago proves it.

Good colour and detail
If you can stretch a few more seconds out of each exposure it may help a bit with the depth but it does all depend on what your tracking stability is like.
