Well I finally got some really good seeing conditions this morning, hard to come by lately but it sure makes a difference. That and the new tracking system, and dropping my ISO settings after seeing Mickoid's pics, combined to get me my best Jupiter so far. The Saturn was also my best yet, and Mars I'm not finished with but probably will be too. Really happy with how Jupiter turned out, couldn't believe it when it went through Registax. Using Skywatcher 10" dob, Canon 60D DSLR camera.
Great images there. As you say, your Jupiter is really good, even pin-up material! Be interested if your final version of Mars shows the current localized dust storm there.
Thanks, I didn't know there was a dust storm on Mars, been hoping it stays away. Will have to look out for it.
Managed a slight improvement on the Jupiter by stacking 25% instead of 75%. Did all 9 vids and combined them, file was too big to post here so I did another one with just 6:
Yes that Jupiter is starting to look really good. And I actually thought that brighter patch on your Mars image may well be the dust storm in question although it is a bit faint for me (who is also no expert) to make a call. You might want to look at some high resolution images of it in the Solar system imaging forum in Cloudy nights and assess if you have caught it in that image.
I had a look but not sure if I got it or not. Just trying to get the best images I can and learning as I go. Will do some more research on the dust storm. Couple more recent Mars pics:
