Darwin area hazy in June?

Hi folks,

I might visit Darwin in June this year for the Venus Transit. Some quick check on the web shows that the landowners over there exercise bush burning in June every year to prevent natural bush-fires deep into the dry season.

If this is true, is it going to be very hazy in that area? If yes, how far do I need to drive further south to avoid the haze?

Thanks.

Clear skies!
Jack

Yes that is dead right, the smoke haze is there constantly, and it is very hard to escape from.

We spent from June to November there, and the burning just keeps going.

I found it difficult to even get a good sunset from Mindil Beach, the Sun would set behind a smoke haze on most occasions

Hi Leon,

Thanks so much for you quick answer. Sounds like the haze condition will be quite bad around Darwin.

Say if I drive all the way south to Katherine, is there going to be any improvements?

Clear skies,
Jack
