12" steel tube rc reduced at Andrews....

Just noticed the 12" steel tubed RC has been reduced in price to $2299..Is the truss version at $3799 really that much better? For $1500 you could add a Moonlight Isolation flange and 2.5" electric focuser - you'd still have to add the focuser to the truss anyway...

Only $100 more than the cf 10"

the credit card is twitching....

cheers
Gary

It is pretty heavy, do you have the mount for it? At 25kg, before accessories, camera, etc it will require a CGX/L mount as a minimum, imho. Bring a steel tube it will be more subject to temperature fluctuation than carbon. Also note that it has the 96% reflectivity mirror, not the 99% mirror as used in the carbon version. Good luck with your decision.

Decided against it....nearly had a moment of madness, My Mesu would have had no issues with it's weight, but decided it's focal length was too long for me..
cheers

You would miss out on an entirely redesigned mirror support cell if you went with the old style RCs...
