I want to get the perfect widefield ep for this little scope ,i have LVW's that are great in my larger scope but are a little heavy for the 66ED ,I just want one perfect widefield and lightweight 1.25 eyepiece to use just to view big chunks of sky ,not worried about viewing through it at different mags so i wanted to ask you all for what you think would be the one ,would like to buy the one ep and leave it at that with this scope ,the scope is quite fast at F6.1 tight stars across the fov with as dark a background as possible is a must ,any advice would be appreciated
If you have the LVW 22mm stick to that. Anything else cant really deliver a larger true field of view - it is limited by the barrel.
There are alternatives with a wider apparent field of view (82, 90 or 100 degrees) but the actual field is dictated by the barrel.
I have the LVW 22mm and strangely have not tried it in the 66 will try it as soon as i get a chance but i think i might get a 24 panoptic if i can in the classifieds as the weight is the attraction with this one and if it doesn't suit i can sell it on with no harm done but realistically there is only 115gms between the LVW and the pan i just do not like the focuser on the 66 and doesn't need much weight on there before it starts slipping and with it being the Petzval cannot change the focuser which is what i would do because i really like the scope ,Thank you both for your input and would not look any further than either of these 2 ep's so they were both excellent choices ,just sometimes you need experience to help you with these decisions
As Morton says a 19 or 24mm Panoptic , these work very well in my LP 60mm F7 triplet APO .
Also I find my TV 25 and 32mm Plossl's gives a nice low power wide field , a lot cheaper as well than a Pan.
FOV with the NPL 30mm would be 3.75 Deg in the 66 and the weight is excellent and at around 85 bucks posted new might be an option
Yes these have nice big lenses and field stop..and the eyecup can be screwed up or down as it has a good eyerelief. 19MM PANS still the best for me though!
