Half way there .....

Hi All,

A couple of weeks ago I posted an early Eagle which was more of a star and guiding test. It was the first time I’d used my C9.25 for astrophotography. Since then I’ve managed to gather some more data. From 2.5 hrs originally to 5.5 hours now. I’ve actually grabbed around 7hts but the quantity of data meant I could be a little more ruthless cutting out below par subs. The plan is to finish this project by this weekend. I’m aiming for around 10hrs total integration by the time in done but I thought I’d just post this for now to show my progress.

111 x 180 sec subs @ ISO 400 and some 800
Astromodified Canon 350d w/ STC Duo Filter
C9.25 w/ 0.63 reducer
HEQ5 pro guided by Nexguide SAG
Bortle 8 skies, average moon >90%

Thanks for looking

Thanks Chris. I’ve overdone it with the stars and the bright edge on the rear pillar but as it’s a work in progress I intend to correct it in the final iteration.

Very nice indeed Ryan , a real deep 3D look which is what we all aim for in the end
My only criticism if any , would be your star shape, they look a bit ovoid rather than round
Other than that a lot of work has gone in to this image and the results are evident
Well done , can’t wait to see your final processed image

Thank you Martin,

Totally agree about the stars. I’m hoping with more subs I can be a bit more fussy about the ones I let through and hopefully I can clean them up. Otherwise I might have to take a leap out of Chris’ book and try a starless version

I’d rather eggy stars any day than no stars at all, it is the universe we are imaging , it’s not a painting or piece of artwork
That’s just my personal choice

Point respectfully taken and reality is what I’m aiming for for sure. I do appreciate the artistic representation of some images though. Hubble pallet is another example.

111 subs and only half way there? You've been busy. I'm interested to see how this turns out. It's looking good so far!
