FOV with 400D!

Has anyone got an idea of the FOV of a 400D through an 8" SCT

CMOS sensor APS-C, 22.2 x 14.8mm, 3888x2592 pixels.

Or a suitable program i could download to calculate FOV with lenses as well as Prime focus?

Hi, try CCD calc it is a great program.

You can get close if you select the 20Da which is 8 mpixels

Download the CCD calc from here
It works very well. You just need to know the pixel size for your camera.
It is 3888 x 2592 with pixels of 5.7 microns for a 400D

Its a brilliant program!!!!!!

I was trying to figure out if an f/3.3 reducer would be ok to use on my 8" SCT with the 400D attached, and comparing that FOV to the 300mm APO Sigma lens im getting this week!

I do it the dumb way - snap the full moon - knowing its 30 arc minutes across! That's a simple way of seeing what you can get!

So I know with a 9.25SCT on a 400D - the moon just fits lengthwise - so that's on a 6" * 4" shot 1" = 5 arc minutes or 1mm = 12 arc seconds!
