Canon 600D

Just wanted to know how good is the 600d because I just purchased one today (Rebel T3i EOS 600D).

I was told not to buy the 550 but go for the 600 I said ok just so I could throw the old one in the bin.
Just want to know is it good or is it crap compared to others?

Cheers Kev.

Well i have played with it for 15mins couldnt work out auto focus so it is back in the box for while until i read some destructions.

I,m thinking my old one was easier to use.

It is supp to be pretty good I think Kev, I just .... nearly .... bought one, but was turned at the end and got a 60 D for < $1000. It also isnt as easy to use as my 450 D.

we both need to read our manuals, methinks.

To many buttons Liz.
The more I read into this I seem to think auto focus only works in video mode..

Anyways I keep reading the destructions for a bit.

Edited bits Auto focus------------Dont press the shutter button down fully.
Thats it i,m in book mode now.

Thx Liz

Cheers

What are the problems Kev?

If you have any issues-have a look at manual-its your friend!

My son has this model camera,I have used it a few times.Been most
impressed,no more difficult to use than my 450D and 350D.

In fact I'd say it gives better images, and the flip screen is very good.
I was going to buy a 7D,but after using flip screen on this one and G12

I really would like to have my next D/SLR to have one.Have a look here at
this image my son took using a cheap 90-300 kit lens that cost $75.

These images are going into the new Royal Queensland Aero Club web site
and advertising material.

One thing I did have to do to the camera body was show my son how to set all the settings-standard,potrait etc, select each item to what you want.
Its in the instruction manual.Quite easy to set.

Hi Chris

The inital problem was taking a picture with auto focus but a bit of reading sorted it out.

Its like jumping out of your motor car then jumping in a Mack truck, You know how to drive it but things are in another place and way more fancy controls.

I,ll keep reading Chris, Thats the only way.
Great pics of the 747 also.

Cheers Kev.

Sorry Kev.

Forgot to address your AF. When in auto-the camera just focus'son what it wants to,not want YOU want.

Going into P,AV,TV or manual modes you can select AF point. Those green and black manuals-are like bibles, look after it!

Enjoy that wonderful new camera body,I feel the details its captures is very fine, quite a notch up from my 450D.You will learn to love the flip screen-its an amazing tool.

Be great for macro,astro-no crook neck!,and also good for reviewing your images,my son has found it essential for doing videos for his film and television course assignments.

Great camera !

Kev,

The 600D is fantastic.

Play around with it in low light and you will be amazed to see what it can do. Use the ASA settings. Even up to 3200 or 6400 the image is still good and you dont need a flash.

Treat yourself and take photos outside at night on a tripod. It looks like day in full colour. I got photos with star fields in the sky and the house lit by moonlight. Absolutely amazing.

The sensitivity and quality of its sensor is the best I have seen in a camera of this price.

Thanks for the reply Theo
I got a shot of Orion then the Pleaides for its first light on astro related subjects but i,m not sure if I should post them yet as this is all to new to me.

I,m finding the camera very good mostly with the lcd screen which moves around without breaking your neck as discussed a few threads back by Chris.
The salesperson told me why get a 550D when you can get a 600D so i said OK.

Cheers Kev.
