Orion nebula

This was a hard one to process. Most of the data comes from January this year, but the seeing wasn't quite as good as I would have liked. Fortunately I had some good data from December 2013 taken with my QSI camera over a much smaller field of view than with my current setup. The seeing then was good enough to almost get 6 stars in the trapezium. They appear as bumps on the brighter stars, so I used that data for the central region.

Looks like some high pass filtering has left some large dark holes around some of the brighter stars and you have lost colour in the core area but otherwise, overall, very bwuddy nice Geoff!.. it made me think "wow" when I first opened it. It has some great details and while the colouring is not completely traditional I quite like it, go M42!

Thanks Mike. The "wow" factor is probably the most important one in a picture.

Thanks Greg. Not sure what you mean by CDK-like.

Thanks Simon. I didn't actually use any decon on this one. Just a bit of sharpening in MLT.

I really like this image Geoff. Colour is good and the detail is really nice and crisp without being overly sharpened. There are some big dark rings around the brighter stars that might need looking at to neaten them up. The only thing I don't really like is the lack of colour in the core area. If you could fix those up you would have an absolutely cracking image in my opinion.

Thanks Paul. Yes, yet another repro is probably in order.
