Takahashi LE40

With the long focal length of the Mewlon 300 its nice to have EP's that move up in gradual FL's steps as I prefer not to use extenders/barlows etc.

Always felt there was a gap between the LE50 and the LE30 (or Nagler31)

So the news that Takahashi were releasing the new LE40 came as a welcome surprise.

I have recently taken delivery of the new LE40

Immediately followed by clouds and rain

Packing and Build look typical Takahashi Quality

Only had one chance to have a very quick look through the TSA120 and initial view seem very sharp but really need to do some good comparisons in the TOA150 and Mewlon 300 and see how it shapes up with the LE50, LE30 and Nagler31.

Will write up more when I get the chance but until then thought I would post some pretty pictures for all to drool over

Thanks Col

Hoping after getting a chance to use it properly that it proves as good as the LE50

Looking forward to hearing further reports on this new eyepiece Phil. The LE10mm is also of interest. Recently I bought the 12.5mm Ortho and 28mm Erfle from Claude. Both very nice eyepieces, light weight and high quality.

Phil gave it to me to try on my Vixen VC200L 8"f9. Nice sharp view of omega centauri on my scope operating at 45x.

5 thumbs up from me :thum bsup:

I agree with Joe. VERY nice EP, BUT - and it's a subjective but - I prefer the image from the LE30.

As to the LE50...
